Job Description
SSCI is looking to fill Principal Research Engineer 1 - Group Lead position in the areas of Autonomy, Technologies for Unmanned Systems.

*Eligibility for DoD Security Clearance is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Develop advanced concepts in Autonomy, AI, Machine Learning, and/or Cognitive Systems
- Develop competitive proposals and follow-on programs for R+D customers, including DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL, NASA, and other government agencies and industry primes
- Lead execution of advanced technology R+D programs in Principal Investigator roles
- Support other company initiatives and programs in a Subject Matter Expert role
- Support company marketing and business development via technical briefings, publications, conferences, and professional outreach activities
Requirements
- PhD w/ 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent, in EE, CS, AI, Robotics, Cognitive Systems, Machine Learning or related field, with demonstrated experience in Autonomous Vehicles, Behavior-based Robotics, or other Unmanned/Autonomous Systems development
- Experience working with Autonomy, Robotics, or Unmanned Systems, with technology focus in AI, machine learning, and/or cognitive systems
- Experience in winning proposals and developing innovative solutions in Unmanned Systems, Autonomy, Robotics, or Machine Learning
- Experience interacting independently with R+D customers as PI or SME
- Experience working in small team leadership role.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Human Systems Integration (HSI), User Interfaces (UI), Multi-Vehicle Tasking, and/or Mission Planning for Unmanned Systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
