Job Description

The 21st CCLC Senior Center Director will oversee the administration and operations of the 21st Century Afterschool and Summer Programs under the direction of the HEF Program Coordinator at John Rolfe Middle School. They will ensure a positive, safe, enriching environment, in accordance with the Henrico Education Foundation policies, procedures, and mission with their leadership team and site staff at their program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration and operation of the 21st Century CLC Programs, to include implementing policy and procedures, planning, promoting, implementing, hiring and training staff, risk management, evaluation, and budgeting.
  • Oversee the administration and operation of licensed summer program in accordance with the grants, to include planning, promoting, hiring and training staff, risk management, and budgeting.
  • Ensure the adherence to all government and Henrico Education Foundation regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards for enrichment programs, summer camps, and afterschool programs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Henrico County Public Schools, including prompt and professional communication, appropriate use of facilities, timely and accurate completion and submission of reports, and positive collaboration.
  • Work with the Community Learning Center Program Officer to manage the 21st CCLC Program budget ensuring that the department operates in a fiscally sound manner and achieves financial goals.
  • Serve in direct delivery of program at a designated program.
  • Support Henrico Education Foundation initiatives to help meet organization goals.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, vendors, volunteers, staff, and community.
  • Interpret, communicate, and promote the Henrico Education Foundation mission, goals, and objectives to employees, volunteer’s leaders, members, and community.
  • Partner/collaborate with organizations whose mission is aligned with the Henrico Education Foundation to meet the needs of community children and families.
  • Work with HCPS CLC Liaison, Family Advocates, and other HCPS staff to ensure that programming needs are met.
  • Attend CLC school impact meetings as the 21st century afterschool representative.
  • Read, understand, execute, and collaborate on 21st century community learning center grant goals.
  • Supervises staff to ensure that they successfully fulfill their job responsibilities.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior, and understands positive youth development approaches to the academic and social development of youth.
  • Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintains transparent, on-going communication with supervisor.
  • Adheres to the Community Learning Center/Learning amp; Discovery policies and procedures.
  • Monitors daily operations to adhere to all state, local, and program regulations.
  • Collaborate with schools staff to intentionally connect our out of school time programs with the school day and/or other school goals and initiatives.
  • Assists with other site needs as assigned.
  • Promotes program in a positive way internally and externally.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Meet the requirements of Program Director as detailed in the Virginia Regulations for Licensed Child Day Centers. (must have at least one of the following)
    1. A graduate degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and six months of programmatic experience.
    2. An endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and one year of programmatic experience.
    3. Forty-eight semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit from a college or university of which 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours are in child-related subjects and one year of programmatic experience.
  • At least 21 years of age with reliable transportation and a history of dependability.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office Operations.
