Job Description

Job Summary

The staffing coordinator is responsible for coordinating the staffing and scheduling activities for all nursing staff. The Staffing Coordinator acts as a liaison resource with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and the nursing staff in staffing and scheduling. The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for pre-payroll management and assisting to ensure that employee monthly schedules match daily, weekly schedules and the time cards of the clinical staff with assistance from the CNO and Nursing Supervisors.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain confidentiality in regards to any and all information in which he / she has access to
  • Ability to communicate effectively and openly with CNO amp; nursing staff in a professional manner
  • Maintain and effective working relationship with the CNO
  • Participates in mandatory orientation amp; staff training activities
  • Communicates openly with CNO, House Supervisors or unit nurse in regards to all schedule changes
  • Maintains accurate call out log and reports call outs to CNO weekly
  • Produce monthly and weekly reports for CNO amp; CFO
  • Maintain all orientation, daily, weekly and monthly staff schedules
  • Maintain an accurate staffing system and staff all units with the appropriate number of clinical staff according to the census and acuity
  • Completes all audits as assigned in a timely manner
  • Completes all employee coaching as assigned by CNO
  • Anticipates unit needs and initiates actions independently and or with approved guidance from CNO
  • Will cover MHW’s as needed on the floor
  • All other duties as assigned by CNO/CEO

Requirements

Education High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Minimum of 2 years customer service or combination of education and experience required. Experience in scheduling

Required Licenses None required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of scheduling
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Understanding of the hospital matrix and ability to staff to it
  • Understanding of all hospital policy’s
  • Understanding of MHW and MHW Lead duties
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
  • Exceptional follow through on tasks and assignments

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

Perform the following with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs to access of both units
  • Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 dB loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information orally and make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Individual must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and to be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks, as well as inspect and analyze.
  • Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another
  • While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
