Job Description
United Tactical Systems, the leading manufacturer of less lethal weapon systems and projectiles, is looking for a manufacturing or mechanical engineer with a strong background in automation to assist our manufacturing operations. Thorough and technical understanding of manufacturing and automation of a wide range of processes is required specifically machine components such as robotic systems, PLC’s, pneumatic valves and associated pneumatic components, ultrasonic welding, injection molding, load cells, optic sensors and vibratory feeders. Primary responsibilities will be to identify problematic areas of our manufacturing equipment and processes, then design and implement improvements.
Requirements
. This position will report directly to our CTO but will work closely with our machine technicians and production staff. It is a very hands on position that will require full use of the potential candidates’ wide range of skills. Being comfortable with turning wrenches, fabricating metal components, and troubleshooting electrical systems is required. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the following skillset:
· Familiarity with injection molding machines and processes.
· Experience using 3-D CAD. Solidworks preferred.
· Strong mechanical skills and the ability to use shop tools and equipment.
· Able to use measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
· Basic machining skills using lathes and mills.
· Able to write code for PLC’s.
· Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
· Strong troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to write technical documents
· Communicate effectively with other production staff and outside vendors.
· Capable of troubleshooting and repairing plant infrastructure systems such as air compressors and water chillers.
· Background or experience with quality control procedures and processes.
