About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior Security Specialist to join our IT Security Operations team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in improving the availability, confidentiality, and processing integrity of our information systems.
Job Responsibilities:
Vulnerability Management and Security Assessments:
- Assist with vulnerability scanning and remediation
- Work with other teams to manage, triage, and track vulnerabilities to resolution
Security Operations:
- Maintain security documentation
- Follow runbooks and playbooks to triage security alerts
- Assist with incident response and investigation
- Monitor and analyze security events
Security Awareness and Training:
- Create and manage collateral for security awareness training campaigns
- Work with our Learning Team to deliver security awareness training to team members
- Promote a culture of security within the organization
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and vulnerabilities
Security Policy and Compliance:
- Help to develop and maintain security policies and procedures
- Assist with compliance audits and reviews
- Ensure adherence to security regulations and standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security requirements are met
- Assist with the implementation of security controls and technologies to protect our systems and data
Technical Skills:
- Review and assist with systems hardening (OS, Firewalls, Network appliances, IoT Devices)
- Assist with tracking, prioritizing, and reporting on security risks
- Research security vulnerabilities and recommend security upgrades
- Familiarity with security tools such as AV, SIEM, IPS, Vulnerability Management, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of information security across various domains
*Pursuant to New York City's Pay Transparency Law the pay range for this position is $62,000-$72,000; base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in a related field (e.g., IT Security, Network Security)
- Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information security or equivalent experience
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of information security principles and best practices
- Experience with security technologies and tools
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CEH) are a plus
- A passion for security and a desire to learn
- Available for on-call rotation, and support of occasional evening and weekend work as needed
- Travel may be required
