SSCI is looking to fill Lead Software Engineer 2/Assistant Group Lead position in the areas of autonomy for Unmanned Systems.

Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Develop advanced concepts in Autonomy, AI, Machine Learning, and/or Cognitive Systems
- Develop competitive proposals and follow-on programs for R+D customers, including DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL, NASA, and other government agencies and industry primes
- Lead execution of advanced technology R+D programs in Principal Investigator roles
- Support other company initiatives and programs in a Subject Matter Expert role
- Manage and mentor a group of 5-20 engineers working related programs.
- Lay out group and company-level technology development roadmaps and customer-focused business plans
- Support company marketing and business development via technical briefings, publications, conferences, and professional outreach activities.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of experience (DoD strong preferred) and Ph.D. in Computer Science or relevant engineering discipline, including as a manager for software development or Ramp;D of AI for Robotics, Machine Learning, Robot Planning/Optimization Techniques, and/or Autonomous Uncrewed Systems Software
- Proficiency with AI robotic navigation and/or decision and/or coordination algorithms path planning (A*, RRT), schedule optimization (Simulated Annealing, Genetic Algorithms, Tabu Search), distributed multi-robot coordination algorithms.
- Experience with C/C++, Python, and (desired) relevant memory-safe languages. Familiarity with Linux-based development environments highly desired
- Demonstrated capability in proposal-writing and execution management for relevant technical engineering efforts of gt;$1.5 million in size.
- Experience running and mentoring teams of 5+ researchers and engineers.
- Must be able to design software architecture for complex software systems, and integrate with DoD-standard architectures and interfaces.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with DoD or other common robotics and datalink architecture standards (especially OMS and AFSIM, but also FACE, DDS, ROS, STANAG 4586, J-Series, etc.)
- Familiarity with modern software development tool chains and processes (Agile, git/Gitlab/Github, Confluence/Jira, CI/CD and automated test methodologies, etc.)
- Experience leading a team to build modular, reusable software with deployment-ready production values
- Experience in Human Systems Integration (HSI), User Interfaces (UI), Multi-Vehicle Tasking, and/or Mission Planning for Unmanned Systems.
- Must have strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal), and be able to build and maintain customer relationships.
