Job Description
Are you a Digital Fabrication Specialist seasoned in navigating a fast-paced, creative landscape? Can you adeptly handle a range of CNC platforms, from routers to laser and plasma CNC, and even 3D printing? Are you passionate about maintaining machines, training others, and ensuring shop safety?
The CNC Operator / Digital Fabrication Specialist is the cornerstone of our fabrication and installation team, responsible for orchestrating the operation of various CNC platforms for digital fabrication projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | ACCOUNTABILITIES- Manage and operate various robotic and CNC platforms within our workshop
- Create and manage CNC cut files, integrating them seamlessly into diverse projects
- Perform machinery maintenance and repair, support and guide operators across different skill levels in ensuring optimal equipment functionality.
- Assist with developing and implementing training programs tailored for individuals with different skill levels to facilitate skill enhancement and knowledge sharing
- Assist with management of safety plans across the workshop
- Provide guidance and mentorship to operators, fostering growth and skill development for all levels of proficiency.
- Ensure alignment between physical and digital measurements, aiming for operational efficiency across different operational levels through precision management and process optimization
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure finished products meet the specified design and quality standards.
- Oversee inventory levels of materials used in CNC operations, ensuring adequate stock and efficient utilization
- Contribute innovative ideas for process enhancements, new techniques, or technology adoption to advance the efficiency and capabilities of CNC operations.
- 3 -5 years in commercial additive manufacturing, production, and the overall use of CNC, 3D printing, and other like machines including strong knowledge of shop operations and general shop safety required
- Experience with digital file management and digital design platforms for CNC and 3D printing such as MasterCam, Rhino, HSM Works, SolidWorks, etc
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery
- Experience with safety related aspects of digital fabrication, training and development of protocols and processes around safety
- Highly skilled at maintaining accuracy and consistency between physical and digital measurements and machinery
- Experience training others on the use of tools and machines preferred
- License and/or certification to operate heavy machinery and/or large trucks and trailers preferred
