Job Description

Tierra Biosciences, a venture capital backed life science company, has pioneered a novel high-throughput protein production platform that produces hundreds of custom proteins on-demand. Our platform can make proteins faster than other technologies and has the potential to onboard novel methods quickly. We use cell-free synthetic biology to bring the power and throughput of genomics technologies into protein production. We are looking for a Marketing Manager to play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of the Tierra brand and products. Reporting to the VP of Product and Marketing, this position will be responsible for marketing activities that support growth at various stages of the sales funnel. This dynamic position emphasizes strategic marketing, while working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.

Requirements

Job Duties:

  • Own and drive the first-ever efforts for product marketing, beginning with the development of an inbound marketing plan and an events strategy.
  • Working with product management, translate product features to develop content with competitive positioning and technical messaging, empowering the sales team to effectively engage with scientists.
  • Work with external groups (such as Supreme, CG Life, individual consultants/contractors, or others) to create/update compelling content for the website, both technical and non-technical.
  • Create a cadence for social media and targeted email campaigns, managing and executing on lead generation and nurturing plans.
  • With sales leaders and product management, define the initial segments of the market to target and develop relevant positioning strategies.
  • Develop and execute a manageable plan on relevant conferences and tradeshows, ensuring sales has the tools needed to be successful at events.
  • Develop and monitor marketing metrics at an early-stage company, with key performance indicators (KPIs) to reasonably assess campaign efforts and web traffic.
  • When possible, use data analytics to refine marketing strategies for maximum performance of content (webpages, emails, social media posts, conference messaging) and to provide strategic recommendations.

Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS or equivalent degree in life sciences.
  • A minimum of 3 years marketing experience, specifically knowledge of marketing concepts, principles and procedures that are effective in the life sciences market.
  • Experience in setting up and using various marketing tools (such as Hubspot or Marketo) with a data-driven approach to marketing.
  • Experience in developing marketing content (application notes, digital posts, conference materials) with marketing specialists and/or external design/content developers.
  • The ability to develop and deliver differentiated value propositions with consistency and clarity across the commercial organization and customer base.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to navigate early-stage organizational structures, building credibility and relationships across functions and levels.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and plan for future product needs and industry trends.
  • Proven track record of delivering growth and launching products with increasing market share.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies using both quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • A background in molecular biology or biochemistry.
