Typical Responsibilities of a Project Lead

  • Participate in leading tasks associated with the given project. Direction given by PM or Manager
  • Assist in the creation of the project scope and objectives
  • Assist in predicting resources needed to reach objectives
  • Assist in reviewing and updating PM on budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
  • Track project costs to meet budget
  • Maintain a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various to PM/Manager about strategy/changes and progress •
  • Assist if applicable with contracts or vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicate expected deliverables

Specific Responsibilities:

• Review and observe that the contractor(s) is/are familiar with the submitted client site-specific Health and Safety Plan in order to achieve conformance.
• Request compliance with the requirements outlined in the project specifications.
• Check with individual contractor personnel about their understanding of the safety, technical, and administrative aspects of the project.
• Review contractor(s) approach to project activities, including contractor(s) inspections of structures and surrounding area conditions and development of pertinent documents and plans.
• Work with contractor personnel about the performance of pre-work safety assessments, surveys, evaluations, or inspections.
• Proactively intervene to stop work when observing an unsafe act or condition that could be of immediate danger to life, health, or property and will notify appropriate personnel according to the established communication plan.
• Support Client response efforts in the event of emergencies at the site.
• The role will be limited to the observation of contractor activities from a safe distance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, biomedical/biochemical engineering, biological/chemical sciences or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in site operations and an engineering degree or; 3+ years of industry experience and a mechanical engineering background preferred.
  • Project management skills, experience in office/lab planning, move coordination and small construction management.
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of small projects.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry involving cGMP a plus.
  • Experience and training in reading construction drawings (Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Plumbing, Structural, Fire) and construction specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required.
  • Effective in multitasking, managing time and prioritizing projects to meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and active use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project).
