Job Description

We are looking for a Medical Scheduling Secretary to support our medical offices. Our Medical Scheduling Secretary should be efficient and well-spoken with experience in scheduling appointments and assisting patients in medical offices. If you are patient, computer-savvy and can multitask, we’d like to meet you. Your goal will be to ensure the smooth workflow of our medical facilities, so that our patients receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities

  • Make outbound calls to ensure accurate appointment scheduling into database for medical providers
  • Respond to patients' questions and need by editing, canceling and rescheduling appointments according to office protocols
  • Work with and communicate to practice offices regarding add on patients
  • Handle, maintain, and monitor pre-appointment work lists as assigned
  • Collect and process payments from patients
  • Confirm eligibility, coverage verification, and benefits with insurance companies. Determine financial responsibility for services
  • Assist in working with insurance companies to process claims
  • Ensure all pre-authorization issues are communicated in a timely manner
  • Liaise with physician's staff to obtain additional insurance and/or clinical information
  • Update the patient accounts on multiple client systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a medical secretary/appointment scheduler or similar administrative position
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, regulations, and medical office procedures; knowledge of medical coding is strongly desired
  • Experience processing insurance claims
  • Familiarity with basic bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of MS Office, databases and EHR systems
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Patience and discretion
  • Organizational and multitasking skills
  • High school diploma; additional training in Medical Administration is a plus
