About Insight Energy

Insight Energy (IE) Insight Sourcing's energy practice is an exciting area of growth for the firm. The practice focuses on managing energy spend for Insight Sourcing clients across all industry verticals, from national retailers to heavy industrials. The IE team works closely with clients to identify goals and develop strategies for reducing costs, hedging against market risks, and setting budgets, and tracking financial performance. Additionally, IE offers a full range of sustainability services, including emissions measurement (Scope 1, 2, and 3), target setting, decarbonization road mapping, sustainability project implementation, and emissions reporting. The IE team leverages Insight Sourcing's world-class procurement capabilities to help our clients procure energy efficiency equipment and clean energy.

Role Overview

The Energy Procurement Analyst Electricity is responsible for leading the fulfillment of all client electricity procurement events including Service Agreement clients and Energy Choice clients. In this role, you’ll collaborate with several different internal team members and external clients to ensure successful RFP execution. You will also have the opportunity to drive innovation and make recommendations for how we could improve the overall RFP process. The right candidate would be considered for a team lead role within the Energy Procurement group.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the team lead and expert resource for a group of electricity procurement associates, assisting them with client strategy, electricity-related industry knowledge, workload distribution, and lead resolution of any procurement-related issues.
  • Have an excellent understanding of energy infrastructure, including but not limited to capacity, transmission, distribution, and how each affects a client’s procurement strategy.
  • Understand the various energy procurement pricing products, including spot, fixed, and index-related products.
  • Manage the Insight Energy electricity procurement process, ensuring Account Managers are notified of upcoming or outstanding client electricity contracts that require attention.
  • Create and foster supplier relationships, maintaining an active database of available suppliers for all regions of the U.S. and Canada.
  • Track, initiate, and fulfill all assigned Electricity Request for Proposals (RFP), including but not limited to data gathering, supplier solicitation, matrix creation, supplier selection, pricing analysis, and recommendation. Track RFP process in the designated system.
  • Interact with internal client teams as well as external clients during the procurement process. Be comfortable conveying the reasoning behind recommendations for the recommended products and terms.
  • Maintain Salesforce or other designated systems with client energy contract details and own all energy procurement-related data and reporting in the system.

Requirements

  • An environmental / energy, engineering, business, finance degree, or degree in a related field with 5+ years of professional experience in the procurement of retail electricity for commercial and industrial clients or equivalent previous Energy industries experience.
  • Excellent understanding of energy industry, with a specific focus on the electricity industry, including physical and financial products, pricing, procurement, and physical infrastructure.
  • Possess good leadership skills with the ability to guide others in daily tasks and to motivate and assist in employee growth and development.<
