AC Disaster Consulting has job opportunities available to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) recovery initiatives (FEMA TAC V).

This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain, maintain, or transfer a DHS Public Trust and upon client requirements and/or their approval. Ability to deploy anywhere in the US with 24-48 hours notice required.

Position Summary:

  • Compensation: In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for these roles is $40-50/hour; however, we consider several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
  • Travel/Location: Onsite and remote, with ability to deploy/travel a requirement

The Environmental and Emergency Management Planners play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our client. These positions translate federal and state emergency preparedness initiatives into regional and local first response contexts. The Planner may also carry out projects or manage programs in other areas, such as Environmental Planning, Transportation Planning, Mitigation Planning, Recovery Planning, Resilience, GIS, Land- Use Planning, Community Development, COOP/COG/BCP Planning, and Grants Management according to their area of expertise.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for the Planning amp; Resilience Division on all Planning, Resilience, Preparedness, Recovery, Response, and Mitigation Projects.
  • Communication and coordination with all staff members working on related projects, as well as Local, State, and Federal and regional organizations, and the public.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders with business development tasks such as responding to requests for proposals and building relationships with external partners based on subject-matter expertise.
  • Serve as a liaison to clients to carry out the tasks for Emergency Management Planning or related Recovery or Mitigation projects.
  • Coordinate all-hazards emergency planning efforts with local officials, municipalities, public safety departments, hospitals, departments of health, transportation agencies and homeland security if applicable.
  • Coordinate with any local emergency planning committees to ensure statutory responsibilities are met.
  • Assist clients with the development of Emergency Operations Plans to ensure consistency with any local, tribal, State, or Federal requirements.
  • Assist with the development of applications for emergency planning and disaster recovery grants.
  • Manage Disaster Recovery Grants such as FEMA Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants, Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery, and others, as assigned.
  • Serve as an Emergency Operations Center representative during disasters and exercises (may require long shifts, irregular work hours, and/or overnight work).
  • Carry out special projects or manage programs in related areas as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Required - Mid level:

  • 5+ years previous disaster fieldwork experience with a bachelor's degree in related field, or
  • 2+ years experience with a graduate degree, or
  • 10+ years disaster fieldwork experience

Experience/Education Required - Senior level:

  • 5+ years disaster fieldwork experience with a graduate degree, or
  • 10+ years experience with a bachelor's degree, or
  • 15+ years experience in disaster fieldwork

Experience/Education Preferred:

    • Knowledge of the FEMA Public Assistance Program/Policy
    • Trained in the new Public Assi
