Head of Engineering - Web2 (NY)

We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Engineering (Web2) to join our team and help us build great products. To be successful in this role, you should be confident in both building code and managing teams. We also expect you to be in charge of our integrations with external partners and oversee software development plans from ideation to execution. Ultimately, you’ll make sure we use innovative technologies that maximize our productivity and help our company grow.

This position is on-site at our NYC HQ.

Responsibilities

• Oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects, including developing product architecture, ensuring consistency with established standards, and interacting with Product Management to ensure accurate requirements.
• Monitor the reliability and performance of all internal systems and suggest improvements.
• Ensure compliance with security regulations.
• Manage software development projects by setting requirements, goals, and timelines with the engineers, aligned with Project Management goals.
• Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources.
• Hire engineers and coordinate their training.
• Implement innovative technologies.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools.

Requirements

• 4 or more years experience as a Director of Engineering or serving in a similar senior-level position at a startup or tech company.
• Extensive experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces. Our strategic direction is AWS, bonus if you have a professional level certification from AWS. We lead with serverless first technologies.
• Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development. We leverage React, React Native, and NextJS on the frontend. On the backend we use Typescript/Javascript.
• Hands-on experience maintaining IaC and CICD processes. We typically leverage Terraform and AWS CDK for IaC, and Github Actions for CICD.
• Products generally leverage Github.
• Bonus if you have additional experience with Perforce Helix Core to manage depots for Unreal/Unity projects.
• Leadership abilities with a strategic mind.
• Excellent project management skills.
  

BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field is a plus.
