Position summaryThe Staff Accountant will process and support payroll, process accounts payable invoices accurately and efficiently, resolve invoice discrepancies and issues with vendors and internal departments, prepare and process payments across multiple payment types, and maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable records. The Accounting Associate will assist with month-end closing procedures, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and regularly contribute to special projects or assignments. This person is an integral member of the accounting team and will report to the Deputy Controller.What you’ll do
  • Process and support payroll
  • File various state and federal returns/reports
  • Deliver excellent and responsive customer service to vendors, suppliers, and internal clients
  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries related to accounts payable
  • Communicate and escalate sensitive or complex client issues promptly to management as well as provide insight into areas of responsibility
  • Verify invoices, purchase orders, and receipts to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Process accounts payable invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and issues with vendors and internal departments
  • Prepare and process payments, including checks, ACH transfers, and wire transfers
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable records
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures
  • Promote compliance with FAR, company, and internal policies and procedures
  • Contribute to special projects or assignments
Required skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics BA, or commensurate experience with at least two years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting and other government contracting procedures, as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and DOL rules and regulations
  • Solid experience and understanding of expense report policies and procedures and the end-to-end process reimbursement process
  • A customer service mindset and desire to meet or exceed client expectations
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing environment while maintaining alignment with your team and across the organization
  • Confidence and proven ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients and partners
  • High level of personal integrity, ethics, motivation, and ability to foster mutual respect and inclusion
Desired skills
  • Proficiency in GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Excel, Apple computers, and other tools used to support a remote-work environment
  • Experience with payroll and various state regulatory filing requirements
