Job Summary

This is an opportunity for a Staff Accountant with 1-2 years of accounting experience to gain exposure to a wide range of duties. The successful candidate must have clear accounting concepts, be well versed with QuickBooks, detail oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced deadline-driven work environment, and willing to learn. The position will report directly to the Assistant Controller in a 4-5 people team. The incumbent will learn to see the big picture, conceptualize the flow of data up, down and across streams to access impact to the organization, and has good potential for career growth.

Requirements

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and work with HR to manage staffs’ benefits and payroll changes.
  • Record weekly cash receipts in QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile bank statements, general ledger, and sub-ledgers accounts.
  • Analyze and reconcile suspense accounts, post prepaid expense and fixed assets accounts.
  • Post monthly recurring Journal Entries.
  • Coordinate and perform Month-End and Year-End closing with other members in fiscal team.
  • Maintain record retention and ensure substantiation of financial transactions with proper documentation; assist annual audit process.
  • Assist the on-going development of policies and procedures and manage other ad-hoc projects.

Skills amp; Knowledge Required

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 1-2 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks a must; familiarity with other Accounting and ADP payroll systems preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with PowerPoint chart function and other MS Office applications required.
  • A quick learner with absolute integrity, flexibility, and self-motivated to get things done timely and diligently.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills, ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality in the work.
  • Massachusetts residents preferred.
