Job Description

Requirements

As Spartan’s Assistant Project Manager, you will help manage new ground-up projects and expansions to existing properties for SCM. This position is based out of our corporate office in Golden, CO, however, the role may support projects across the country and require travel to those areas. The Assistant Project Manager will manage, or assist with the management of, the project schedule, budget, subcontracts, and execution of multiple projects ranging from $500k to $25 million in total project cost. The position requires experience with all construction trades including civil, structural, wood and metal frame construction, MEP, and interior finishes. SCM is looking for a leader, self-learner, builder of processes, and someone who is comfortable maintaining a work-life balance in a fast-paced high-growth environment.

Results

  1. Contribute to the successful delivery of a minimum of 2 projects simultaneously at, or below, contracted completion budgets and schedules utilizing SCM SOPs and Project Control tools.
  2. Contribute to team's goal of 10% EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization)
  3. Maintain and promote SCM’s Net Promoter Score of 52+ with all stakeholders.

Main Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Manage the project using established project controls and procedures
  • Perform or assist with constructability and coordination reviews
  • Communicate with owners, design team members, and subcontractors related to project risk, timetables, costs/budgets, and change management
  • Support and perform pre-construction planning, scheduling and cost control
  • Support or manage sub-contracting strategy for the project and prepare front-end documents and bid processes under various project delivery models
  • Prepare monthly reports including cost, schedule, safety, cash flow, and others for internal and/or external use
  • Provide jobsite leadership in safety and quality
  • Prepare, or support, and execute contingency plans for potential risks, expanding contractual services and project profit
  • Coordination with SCM field staff including project Superintendents and Field Engineers.
  • Construction permit management and coordination with field staff and subcontractors
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local codes, laws and regulations
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ Years of experience in General Contracting
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’ Degree in Business, Construction Management, or Engineering
  • A drive to learn and do as much as possible in an entrepreneurial setting
  • Ability to use one’s own autonomy and creativity to be macro managed with mentorship
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, MS Project, and Procore
