Job Description
The Commissary Bookkeeper will work directly with the operations team at our Scarsdale store. Primary responsibility is to assist the General Manager and other team members in the kitchen food production process to ensure proper costing and transfer calculations are complete. In addition, this person will be a primary liaison between our external catering clients and our team. Accuracy, organization, strong work ethic, and great communication skills are key attributes of the person filling this job.

Responsibilities and Duties

Creation and costing out of recipes for store’s Catering and Deli operation. Primary tasks include the following:

  • Partner with Commissary in tracking, quantifying, and reporting food production within the Commissary.
  • Maintaining and overseeing kitchen production back-office system.
  • Ensuring all food production is captured and costed out accurately.
  • Maintaining transfer logs between company stores and ensuring accuracy.
  • General assistance with the store’s catering operation. Responsibilities include client communication, contract and event order creation, and payment/collection tasks.
  • Collaborating and communicating with store General Managers to ensure accurate and timely food deliveries.
  • Assisting with hiring and oversight of fleet delivery drivers. Including recruiting, scheduling, and general problem solving.
  • Attend daily weekly production meetings and communicate updates/changes to local team.
  • Review timecards for accounting.
  • Maintain communication with Chef regarding menus, quantifications. Adjust on a rolling basis, as needed.
  • Follow up with the General Manager about vendor invoices and submit to accounting once approved.
  • Place orders for specialty ingredients with vendors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Prior Restaurant, Hospitality, or supermarket experience.
  • Food costing, Food Production and Catering experience highly preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.
  • Must be available to work on-site.
  • Strong Excel Experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and outlook.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
