Fotografiska is the Contemporary Museum of Photography, Arts, and Culture. A destination to discover world-class photography, inspiring programming, elevated dining, and surprising new experiences, Fotografiska was founded in Stockholm in 2010. The Museum has since opened a treasured, historic landmark building in NYC’s Flatiron District, expanded to Tallinn, and will welcome a Berlin Museum in 2023. Located at 281 Park Avenue South, the six-floor, 45,000 sq ft. historic landmark is home to an unexpected mix of world-class art, vibrant cultural programming, and exceptional dining experiences including Veronika and Chapel Bar. Recent exhibitions include works from Andy Warhol, David LaChapelle and Elizaveta Porodina.
The Role
Bar Veronika Bartenders execute an innovative, world-class beverage program with exceptional service standards. They are deeply knowledgeable of our culinary and beverage offerings, and they aim to create customized hospitality experiences for each of our guests. Reporting to the Veronika Restaurant Manager and Floor Manager, the role includes all aspects of bar service including set up, execution, and breakdown. Bar Veronika Bartenders provide service with open hearts, and they embody our core values of joy, curiosity, entrepreneurialism, inclusivity, and confidence.
Requirements
- Ensure that Bar Veronika amp; Veronika bars are ready for service each day according to the standards and procedures set forth by Veronika Leadership.
- Ensure that Bar Veronika amp; Veronika bars are broken down at the end of each service with attention to detail and consistency, always following standard operating procedures.
- Communicate with the Bar Captain and barbacks to maintain proper pars for liquors, mixers, and collateral before and during service.
- Precisely execute Bar Veronika Steps of Service to ensure exceptional guest experience and to maintain Bar Veronika leadership’s standards.
- Consistently provide thoughtful, personal service with the goal to develop connections and repeat guests.
- Hit nightly sales goals provided by our Beverage Director.
- In-depth menu and product knowledge, allergen awareness, and beverage pairing knowledge.
- Sales and cash handling using Toast POS platform.
- Attend regular operational meetings and team trainings to ensure ongoing knowledge, growth and effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
- Competency regarding Fotografiska and our various programs and amenities.
- Detailed attention to daily/weekly checklists that ensure our overall cleanliness meets the State Health Code Standards.
- Have a positive impact, taking responsibility and initiative to resolve issues, always clearly communicating with our members, guests and Famp;B leadership.
- Supply expert knowledge of wine and spirits and ensure the quality of all beverage items, ingredients, and preparation methods while following and keeping to all local, state, and federal laws relating to alcohol service and consumption.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in a Bartender or Bar Manager role in a luxury hospitality venue with fast-paced, volume seating.
- Open availability on Monday-Saturday from 3pm on and the willingness to work 3-4 nights a week.
- The ability to learn and memorize our menu including ingredients, allergens, one-liner descriptions, and beverage pairings.
- A track record of successfully hitting sales goals.
- A passion for food amp; beverage and hospitality with an interest in growing in the industry.
- An advocate and ambassador of service excellence that understands the critical role that exceeding and maintaining service expectations plays in the building of successful Food amp; Beverage operations.
- The disposition to consistently ensure guest satisfaction with a friendly yet professional demeanor and relentless courtesy.
- The ability to thrive under pressure and handle multiple tasks at one time while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- The capacity to work in an ever-changing environment and support in other areas as required to maintain the integrity of Veronika AND Fotografiska museum operations.
