The Opportunity
The Policy and Government Affairs team leads all policy work across Emerson Collective. We’re seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) intern to work closely with the Managing Director of Policy and Government Affairs. You will track all policy and political reporting, identifying developments that could impact EC issue areas. You will conduct research and draft presentation materials on the intersection between jobs and climate investments and prepare updates for EC teams on any necessary policy developments. In addition, you will support the team in building out their robust and ambitious policy strategies, campaigns, and additional day-to-day tasks.Roles and Responsibilities
  • Researching, analyzing, and tracking legislation
  • Assisting in the review and dissemination of qualitative research
  • Helping to build legislative agendas across teams
  • Working closely with the Manager of Policy and Government Affairs in executing the Farm Bill Strategy
  • Working closely with the Director of Policy and Government Affairs in the development and dissemination of information around our Climate Policy Strategy
  • Keeping EA and MD on track with OKRs, tracking yearly progress and milestones
  • Assisting the team on research, writing, rapid response, messaging, and other communications materials development
Additional Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
  • Ability to commit full-time 40 hrs/week beginning in early February 2024 and ending in June of 2024 preference for college students pursuing a gap year/field study in areas of interest related to climate policy and government affairs
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality as interns may encounter sensitive information
  • Flexible and adaptive work ethic when asked to contribute to special projects across different teams as they arise
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to respond to new ideas and projects with enthusiasm and a sense of possibility

LocationEmerson Collective is a Bay Area-based organization with offices in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. This position is located in Washington, DC and is onsite 40 hours/week, starting asap through June 7th, 2024.
By supporting the Policy and Government Affairs team in the aforementioned areas and/or projects, you will walk away with expanded skills, networks, and knowledge.
