Job Description

The AmeriCorps Community Partner Coordinator strives to build trust and awareness among targeted client populations most in need of our services and activate the local community to get involved. This role represents Rebuilding Together in the community and engages in critical research and engagement with community groups and leaders. They identify opportunities to collaborate with community partners to better serve our clients and community and cultivate partnerships among community members and stakeholders throughout their research. The AmeriCorps Community Partner Coordinator will develop a partnership strategy by district/neighborhood and focus on learning what the needs of the community are and listening to those from the area. They will be building criteria for partnership, assessing how we can support each neighborhood, going to community meetings, doing research, highlighting key organizations to partner with, and helping our affiliate expand and deepen strategic partnerships.

Essential Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Meet with community organizations, neighborhood associations, and other stakeholders serving or working with our targeted communities or client populations. Through these means, identify ways to collaborate to meet the needs of clients and build a strong client referral network. Gather input from community members and stakeholders to inform the partnership engagement strategy.
  • Attend community events in each neighborhood - tabling, giving out applications, and researching other community partners, agencies, and stakeholders that could be of value. Work with other RTSF team members to set up criteria and evaluate what it would look like to partner with each community. Conduct a needs assessment to identify new stakeholders or ways in which to expand collaboration with existing partners. Each neighborhood strategy is going to be different and will require intimately getting to know key partners, obstacles, and needs.
  • Identify opportunities for community volunteer actions that emerge from the engagement activities. Prepare a database of volunteers and community groups that could serve as potential partners.
  • Pursue a neighborhood-specific community partner strategy that will increase awareness of our services among our target populations including: attending community meetings and other events; creating and distributing materials; presenting at community organizations, tabling and developing criteria for a partners, and highly detailed analysis and strategy around supporting each community specific strengths and needs.
  • As a grassroots non-profit, all team members will have an active role in implementing larger rebuilding projects throughout the year. They will assist with project logistics several times throughout the year, including registering volunteers, checking in with homeowners throughout the project day, coordinating volunteer logistics such as lunches and bathrooms, assisting with set up/tear down, and taking photos.

Requirements

Required

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel or similar

Solid interpersonal skills and ability make connections and build relationships with both volunteers and clients

Comfort with speaking and presenting in front of large groups--experience training or teaching adults/volunteers is a plus

Ability to work with diverse clients, volunteers, and staff to create a friendly, helpful atmosphere

Ability to work equally well on independent projects as well as on collaborative, team projects

Positive and optimistic attitude, good problem-solving skills

Preferred

Experience with construction, home repair, and housing issues

Ability to work on multiple tasks in a growing and changing environment, with flexibility/adaptability

Volunteer service experience; managing or coordinating other volunteers is a plus

Able to absorb complex information quickly and communicate that information effectively

Well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, flexible

Ability to compose professional written communications for a variety of audiences, including social media (Facebook, Twitter, e-Newsletter)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/volunteering experience

Description of Physical Demands

Must be able to navigate an active construction site, including: climbing stairs and ladders, standing, lifting, and carrying for extended periods of time over difficult terrain.

Must be able to use a computer and phone for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift 20 pounds on a regular basis as part of their responsibilities to assist with the delivery of tools and materials.
