Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, adaptable administrative professional with HR expertise to join our team as we embark on an exciting phase of growth and expansion. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining a talented and engaged workforce that will serve as the foundation for our success.

This is a unique, and perhaps challenging, opportunity. You are the HR department AND you report to an owner. You will function both as an HR Generalist taking care of the care and feeding of our team and also as an Office Manager holding down the fort.

In both capacities, you will impact the growth of our company.

This is an in office position, minimum of 4 days in the office required unless work is required outside normal business hours. Before you apply, please anticipate if a commute to Arlington VA will be an issue for you.

Responsibilities:

Human Resources

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting, to interviewing, to onboarding.
  • Manage our relationship with ADP, administer payroll, and manage our benefits programs. Resolve employee payroll and benefit issues.
  • Administer our benefits time policies and track employee usage.
  • Build community within the organization by organizing weekly company lunches and serving as an anchor in the office where you will perform various office management tasks.
  • Facilitate the annual review and compensation appraisal process, providing guidance to managers and employees.
  • Maintain and expand our job roles and compensation bands for each team to foster team growth and employee career development within the company.
  • Manage the termination process, including exit interviews and offboarding procedures.
  • Maintain and update employee records in relevant systems ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain HR policies and procedures that adhere to legal requirements and industry best practices to ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Track HR metrics.
  • Serve as an employee resource for all things HR.

Office Manager

  • Coordinate and track building access and parking.
  • Answer the rare phone call.
  • Care, organization and management of the office space.
  • Be available for deliveries and receiving guests.
  • Other duties as assigned (note - we may have lulls in HR activities and will ask you to support other functions).

Key indicators of success in this role are a willingness to work in an office, an understanding of human resources best practices, attention to detail, proven teamwork and communication skills, the ability handle a specific issue in the context of a broader issue / concept, a commitment to building positive work environment, and a sense of humor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge of HR systems (for recruiting and payroll)
  • Performs HR transactions and tasks efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates knowledge of compensation and benefits, onboarding, workforce management, talent development, and employment law
  • Exhibits excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Influences senior leaders, employees, and vendor partners through written and oral communication
  • Works swiftly and resolve matters to ensure positive company response and employee outcome
  • Able to perform work outside of normal business hours from time to time (recruiting)
