About the Role:
This squad provides business value by enhancing and maintaining systems that calculate and accurately compensate Safeco independent agents who sell our policies. The intern will work with the squad on enhancing our compensation plans to ensure that we are able to effectively incentivize agents to sell policies while reducing expenses by streamlining and changing our compensation strategy. This will involve a full stack experience that touches UI, services, and batch jobs.
This work will help Liberty improve the stability of our technical stack and enhance user experience in using our systems. Additionally, this will contribute to expense reduction and help the organization increase operational efficiency. The intern will be greatly supported by a tech lead, product owner, and assigned mentor on the team.
This team uses a mix of technologies and tools: Amazon RDS for Oracle, Aurora MySQL, Aurora MySQL (Serverless), Aurora Postgres, DocumentDB, AWS serverless components, TypeScript, Node, Lambda, SQS/SNS, AWS Batch, AWS Step Functions, DMS, S3, Elasticache, Java.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- You’re working towards a degree in a technical discipline or equivalent training and certifications
- You have a proven track record of academic success
- You are fully authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions now or in the future
- You are familiar with various IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies
- You have a general knowledge of design and development tools
- You’re fluent with at least one or more object-oriented software development languages
- You are passionate about learning and growing your technical skillset

Internships for 2024 will start on either May 20th, June 3rd, or June 17th, and are expected to last for at least 10 weeks.
