The PracticesThe EAL practice conducts targeted research using methods such as formative research and rapid experimentation to answer questions relevant to donor and practitioner strategies. By using proven evaluation methods for adaptive management purposes, we work with partners to design, experiment with, and evaluate solutions to accelerate their impact. OpportunityR4D is seeking a self-motivated, creative, and resourceful intern to start immediately. This is an opportunity for someone to learn and gain experience in the operational and business aspects of international development. The intern will be joining a highly collaborative work environment with colleagues who are enthusiastic about their work.As our intern you will have a critical role in business development and will provide surge support on projects. As project-specific opportunities emerge and intersect with the intern’s interest and experience, the intern will provide support during busy periods. This work may range from participating in project meetings, drafting project deliverables, conducting desk research, facilitating meetings, etc. Specific activities will depend on the project and their particular needs. For business development, you will be responsible for researching specific opportunities, funders, and donor trends; and communicating that information to senior team members. You will also maintain and update several databases related to our business development efforts. You will actively contribute to proposal development by editing and/or drafting language for proposals as well as supporting our work in other ways (finding partners, researching previous applications, identifying and articulating practice methodologies, etc.). You will also work closely with the senior team members to facilitate cross-team communication and collaboration and push forward specific initiatives around knowledge management, data analysis, and presentation to internal audiences.
Compensation and Length of InternshipThis is a paid remote internship. R4D interns receive DC minimum wage. This Internship will be for a period of three (3) months and can be extended up to twelve (12) months.Responsibilities
  • Conduct desk research to support funding opportunities that the EAL practice is pursuing as well as specific project activities
  • Identify new funding opportunities and/or new funders
  • Create workplans to follow through on business development applications
  • Research funder priorities and trends and present the information to senior team members
  • Support ongoing business development efforts, as needed
  • Maintain and update relevant databases
  • Source and collate materials for pursuit of business development opportunities
  • Creatively facilitate cross-team collaboration and communication
  • Provide surge support for project teams as-required, work may include writing, editing, and/or contributing in other ways to project deliverables; participating in team meetings; supporting data collection and/or analysis; facilitating meetings, etc.

Qualifications
  • Final year undergraduate student or first-year graduate student, recent college graduate, or any individual with prior experience in an office environment
  • Previous experience in business development a plus</
