Job Description

  • Title: Lead Network Engineer

Our client, a well-established leader in the healthcare industry, is actively searching for a dynamic Lead Network Engineer to enhance their expanding team. This pivotal role involves spearheading the network security and operations team, with a primary focus on meticulously assessing security and operational requirements. The person in this role will collaborate closely with both business and technology stakeholders to gain insights into enterprise objectives and initiatives, understanding their implications on the network and security infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises team members, assigns tasks, and ensures timely completion of work at high-quality standards.
  • Takes the lead in creating policies, conducting periodic security reviews, and driving the requirements and solutions for new network/security infrastructure at CSHS.
  • Provides technical and project leadership for the development of a comprehensive network/security roadmap supporting both short-term objectives and long-term convergence goals.
  • Proactively resolves pre/post-implementation issues, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
  • Evaluates new applications for the Health System, assesses their impact on existing infrastructure, and recommends operational or security improvements.
  • Collaborates with user project managers and IT groups to successfully implement projects.
  • Manages network and security monitoring applications and infrastructure, including LAN/WAN hardware and software.
  • Standardizes network/security policies and procedures in coordination with department LAN managers and system administrators. Supports Disaster Recovery testing and planning.
  • Ensures remote access security for the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Health Systems data network.
  • Serves as the technical point of contact for network support/security incidents, conducting problem resolution analysis and implementation.
  • Provides technical mentorship to Network Engineers, focusing on LAN/WAN, and supports analysis, development, testing, and deployment of components in a converged network.
  • Works within a team providing 24/7 support for applications and systems essential for maintaining the enterprise network, managing day-to-day issues, and adhering to the enterprise SLA.
  • Leads and coordinates engineering solutions enterprise-wide, including unified communications, wireless technologies, and automation/monitoring tools.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years exp as a Network Engineer, Enterprise Architect, with an emphasis in security
  • Experience managing 400 or more network devices (Switches/Routers) in a sophisticated multiplatform, multi-protocol environment.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory roles a plus.
  • Brings extensive hands-on networking experience, including proficiency in TCP/IP, IOS, routers, switches, and various network configurations.
  • Exhibits a wealth of expertise in the selection and strategic direction of network and security technologies, encompassing concept and testing to network security design, vulnerability and penetration testing, and threat mitigation.
  • Proficient in Windows and UNIX workstation administration, coupled with adept networking configuration skills.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of LAN and WAN operations, covering routing, topology, QoS, Multicast, network protocols, MPLS, and MetroEthernet.
  • Brings experience in a range of network elements such as wireless, Ethernet, Ethernet Switching, IP, IP assignment, NAC, VPN, remote access servers, security devices, firewalls, security protocols, and IDS/IPS.
  • Strong experience in utilizing network monitoring, analysis, management, and configuration tools.
  • Hands-on experience with leading network/security vendors such as Cisco, McAfee, TippingPoint, Tripwire, and RSA, indicating a broad technological skill set.
