Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. In addition to the responsibilities below, the Systems Specialist I will perform routine technical duties in troubleshooting and repairing of components within field panels, sensors, and related controls. They mostly work under the direct supervision of a higher-level building automation technician but may be asked to perform tasks at the capacity of a Systems Specialist II.

Essential Functions: An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and making necessary repairs to building-automation-system field cabinets, including communication devices, printed circuit boards, power supplies, electrical/electronic controls, sensors, and transducers.
  • Assist in safely performing point-to-point checkout of end devices, e.g., use multimeter to check continuity and/or resistance of sensors, verifying sensors with calibrated meters, breaking connection at end devices to verify I/O channel assignments, verifying valve stroke and fail positions, etc.
  • Assist in bringing control networks online
  • Communicate technical issues to senior level technicians.
  • Assist in maintaining field markups.
  • Assist with maintaining regular system backups during project.
  • Assist more senior level technicians in the startup of systems and equipment.
  • Report to work on time and ready to perform assigned tasks.
  • Maintain company tools, test equipment, material and company vehicle(s).
  • Create daily reports and submit to Albireo project team and supervisor.
  • Stay busy and look for opportunities to advance project completion.
  • Complete assigned BMS Controls Product training as part of the positions career growth plan.
  • Support a culture based on open/honest dialogue and involvement with all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance.
  • Support a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and site safety as well as other aspects of the business.
  • Travel up to 80% of the time.

Requirements

  • Equivalent experience, vocational school, or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite and intermediate computer skills.
  • OSHA-30 is preferred, or ability to complete and pass within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Self-starter attitude that is inquisitive, intuitive, and has a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to document daily tasks, plan and prepare for tasks assigned.
  • Prior experience supporting construction and field employee groups, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation.

Physical Activities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach, push, pull bend and twist. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl through narrow, enclosed or elevated spaces; move up and down stairs. Regularly use and climb ladders. Visually inspect and locate equipment and products. Read information, often in small print including wiring diagrams and schematics. Enter and locate information on a computer system or communication device. Write documents, reports etc. using a writing instrument (e.g., pencil, pen) or computer. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to varying temperatures, work areas that may be slippery and or wet, near equipment and mechanical moving parts. Work indoors for extended periods of time. Work overnight, weekends, and rotating/varying shifts. This is an on-site position (job site or in an Albireo Office) and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
