The Engineering Project Manager will join a growing team of Engineering and Health amp; Safety professionals helping our customers reduce their work-related risk to quality, productivity and employee health.
Description
Successful candidates will have the following attributes:
A professional manner with excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with product development stakeholders
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies, including: scope management, schedule development amp; integration, risk management, stakeholder management, issue amp; action item management, cost management
- Experience with automotive vehicle development, major vehicle and powertrain components, and commercial vehicles
- Ability to establish priorities, work both independently and in team settings
- Self-starter and a detail-oriented team player
- PMI certification (e.g. PMP ) preferred
Responsbilities
- Lead the development, review and approval of plans and schedules for and across product programs
- Act as liaison between Engineering Program Management and the engineering mechatronics department
- Document and maintain project assumptions, risks, issues, and action item
- Drive deliverable achievement within assigned engineering functional area(s)
- Identify Functional Area stakeholders and actively manage needs and expectations
- Identify, prioritize and communicate risks with Engineering Program Management and functional areas
- Lead project workshops and meetings, and ensure documentation of results and follow up on open topics
- Prepare and deliver project status reports, presentations and metrics
- Ensure visibility and consistent understanding of program content at system and component level, coordination with running product changes, managing program conflicts and escalations
- Provide Examples of automotive project management best practices
Specific responsibilities include:
- Align and maintain the Development amp; Test Schedules for powertrain systems and components
- Coordinate / facilitate technical reviews and task forces
- Assist engineering managers in developing and implementing validation strategies and plans
- Monitor execution of validation plans, proactively identify potential disconnects, and assist in recovery planning as necessary
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience with Engineering Planning for new product programs
- Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of automotive product development processes (Daimler MDS, CVDS: GM GVDP; Ford GPDS; VW PEP)
- Expert level user of Excel, including macros, visual basic coding
- Well-versed in automotive manufacturing processes
- Must have capabilities to successfully work on-site
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
