Responsibilities:
- Practice disciplined software engineering techniques such as automated testing, code reviews, and writing clear, readable code.
- Make key decisions regarding the tech stack and system design.
- Support junior developers in their day-to-day activities.
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers to build functional, complete, and well-performing technical solutions, with a focus on APIs and server-side processes.
- Assist in project planning, estimation, business development, and proposal processes.
Requirements
- Strong server-side development experience with familiarity in client-side development, data visualization, and interactive design.
- Experience with requirements specification, software design, configuration management, software testing, and maintenance.
- Ability to lead a team of developers towards a common technical vision.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and distributed teammates.
- 5+ years of direct experience in web application development.
- Proficiency in PHP Laravel framework + Blade templating engine.
- Familiarity with at least one of the following front-end frameworks: Vue, React, Angular.
- Fluency in two or more Object-Oriented languages such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Swift.
- Experience building and deploying applications on cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices including continuous integration, testing, and deployment.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing SQL databases.
- Experience with version control systems (preferably Git) and writing/implementing Unit and Integration tests.
- U.S. citizenship is required due to contract requirements.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Continuous Integration Pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions.
- Proficiency in using NoSQL databases in production systems.
- Background in data visualization or mobile app development.
- Interest or experience in AI, Machine Learning, Tensorflow, and big data.
- Familiarity with various JavaScript libraries and tools such as D3.js, Node.js, WebGL, etc.
- Knowledge of Graph Databases such as Neo4j.
- Familiarity or experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
- Experience with Atlassian Products (JIRA, Confluence) and GitHub for source code management.
- Background in digital cartography.
