This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Employee Health Liaison (REMOTE) who will manage and facilitate FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) and Workers’ Compensation processes within the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with FMLA and Workers’ Compensation regulations while providing support and guidance to employees navigating these programs. The Employee Health Liaison will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and supervisors, coordinating paperwork, communications, and approvals related to FMLA and Workers’ Compensation claims.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing or related medical field.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree Nursing or related medical field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: 2 years of experience with FMLA and/or Workers’ Compensation.

Preferred: Experience in the nursing field or a related medical field.

* NOTE: 4 years of FMLA experience substitutes for education.

JOB DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) and Workers’ Compensation claims for employees of Amarillo College.
  • Manage the FMLA process from initiation to completion, including coordinating paperwork, communications, and approvals.
  • Administer Workers’ Compensation claims, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee all communication between employees, supervisors and Workers’ Compensation provider.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding their rights and responsibilities under FMLA and Workers’ Compensation policies.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to FMLA and Workers’ Compensation cases including timesheets, FMLA tracking software, and internal Human Resources Information System.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees and managers on FMLA and Workers’ Compensation policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on changes in FMLA and Workers’ Compensation regulations and best practices, and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of FMLA and Workers’ Compensation laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, with occasional in-office training sessions in Amarillo.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), Pay grade 12 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates remotely or in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
