Lightmatter’s technology creates unique computational, communication, and system elements, from photonic systolic arrays to switches to heterogeneous wafer-scale computer systems. Lightmatter and its customers plan to use these elements to build very large and efficient compute clusters. Machine learning is a core target workload.

The System Simulation Lead will be responsible for leading a team that simulates these systems at many levels, generating insight into both current product deployment and future system design.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design, and build simulation infrastructure to perform high-fidelity analysis of Lightmatter systems and workloads, including the unique aspects of photonic interconnect.
  • You can use the infrastructure above to analyze and optimize system designs and deployments for workloads of interest.
  • Lead a small team to perform the above, potentially including people management.
  • Present results both verbally and in written form internally and to partners, customers, and prospects.
  • Run experiments and evaluate prototype systems for reliability, performance, and other characteristics.

Requirements

  • BS in computer/software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field +12 years of experience, or MS +8 years of experience
  • Proficient with C++ and Python
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with network and distributed simulation, including discrete event simulation
  • Experience with trace-driven distributed systems simulation
  • Proficient developing in a Cloud/Linux-based environment
  • Prior management experience with small teams

Base Compensation Range: $200,000 to 250,000. In accordance with the Colorado, California, and New York law, the range provided is Lightmatter's reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. Actual pay will be based on several factors, including work experience, location, and education.
