Job Purpose: You are a focused and communicative team member who transports animals and items throughout the United States. You ensure consistent and quality service delivery.
Schedule: One trip per week on a roughly two weeks on one week off schedule. Average 30 hours per trip. Trips are Tu-Wed and Thu-Fri. Occasional in-shelter work.
Pay: 20.00 per hour
What you will be doing:
Transport Provide transport of animals and items. Prepare the route and vehicle for transport.
Repair and Maintenance Complete vehicle maintenance checks.
Relationship Building Maintain and enhance relationships with partner organizations.
Support Ensure appropriate loading, unloading, and care of animals and items. Plan and complete work based on the schedule and priorities set by the team.
Communication Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information.
Culture Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS’s behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

Requirements
What we are looking for:
Physical amp; Emotional Capabilities Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal transport and animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia. This position spends a majority of their time on the road and requires a high level of mobility and dexterity. Must be able to regularly lift and carry 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. as a team lift. Must have the ability to lift over their head.
Experience Minimum of 1 year of commercial motor vehicle driving experience required. General vehicle mechanics experience preferred.
Transportation Valid driver’s license, ability to meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements and all other applicable qualifications for commercial motor vehicles under 26,001 lbs. required.
Communication Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
Schedule Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and the expectation to work scheduled hours including up to 14 hour shifts with up to 11 straight hours of driving time and overnight shifts.
Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Adaptability Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations.
