Scope of Duties for an Accounting Specialist
At Caring for Family of Companies we look for people with a nurturing spirit and a genuine desire to support and care for others. In this role, you can expect some or all of the following duties:
- Adherence to processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls
- Produce error-free accounting reports
- Perform all medical billing functions, including authorizations
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Reconcile bank statements for multiple entities
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities
- Assist with receipts and record keeping systems
- Assist with payroll functions
- Assist with benefit administration functions
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- Experience with benefits, payroll, receivables, collections, taxes, payables preferred
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, including QuickBooks
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Accuracy and attention to detail

- Strong interpersonal, discretion, and judgment skills
- Proficiency with technology and electronic devices
