The Position

We are seeking a Commodity Specialist to be responsible for planning and executing assigned purchasing and sourcing related activities to procure raw materials aligned with company objectives.In this role, you will manage commodities and support complete supplier management identifying new sources, improving existing supplier relationships, developing and enhancing supplier agreements and policies to support multiple manufacturing facilities.

The Location

We are located at 51 Scarborough Lane, Milford, NH. This is an onsite position.

Additional Job Details

  • Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to quality, delivery and cost competitiveness for assigned commodities.
  • Develop and maintain a level of expertise in your assigned commodities to allow you to follow and predict market trends in supply and pricing. Use this knowledge to secure the best sources considering quality, cost and security of supply.
  • Study market prices and trends, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the planning of materials specific to inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services.
  • Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company and suppliers.
  • Work directly with laboratory support to formulation development and dual sourcing exercises.
  • Support regulatory initiatives with suppliers.
  • Assist in the resolution of production, design, quality and/or delivery challenges
  • Develop, maintain and improve supplier lead-times that meet or exceed customer expectations while minimizing cost (expedite charges, excess inventory).
  • Provide input and recommendations in improving supply chain strategies, policies and practices to achieve Best-in-Class Supply Chain Management.
  • Participate in problem resolution activities, when required, to insure timely deliveries to customers.
  • Assist with supplier assessments and supplier scorecard reporting.
  • Work with Sourcing Specialist to support New Product Development and Introduction.
  • Assist with logistics (import coordination, forwarder management, domestic carrier selection).

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a strong preference for a concentration in Supply Chain Management.
  • 3-5 years of relevant purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience with sourcing materials internationally, preferably from Asia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in consumer goods.
  • APICS or ISM preferred.
  • Certification in CPSM or CPIM a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with practical business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability in building relationships across various functional teams.
  • Able to multitask successfully
  • Demonstrated ability in working well in a global organization within Operations and with external clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong ERP experience
  • Ability to work independently, typically initiating own tasks with input/guidance from manager.
