Job Description

Access Services is hiring a Community Homes Director to join our residential programs team. A successful community homes director will be outgoing, positive, solution focused, capable of managing multiple priorities, and a critical thinker.

Our community homes offer the opportunity of community living for those with intellectual disabilities who need a more supportive living environment.

Built around the idea that individuals know what they need and want in their goals and plans, our group homes offer supportive housing that creates a family style living environment to meet each person’s physical, emotional, spiritual, medical and social needs. We have the ability to provide all levels of care within each home.

Position Summary:

  • Oversee the performance of House Supervisors, Assistant Director, and Operations Manager. 
  • Monitor the operation of each assigned community living arrangement.
  • Supervise staff who are engaged in assisting program residents to live and function as independently as possible in the community.
  • Perform work in accordance with Access Services’ established policies and procedures and to meet quality standards as established by management. 

Detailed Essential Functions of the Community Homes Director

Program Operations:

  • Administer the program by assisting in the development and implementation of efficient 
  • operating procedures. 
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented attitude among all fellow coworkers to facilitate work toward the completion of the agency’s goals. 
  • Present programmatic needs and assist in development of solutions. 
  • Evaluate potential risks and develop proactive responses to avoid problems. 
  • Ensure the implementation of supports and programming as per duties of 6400 regulations and ensure compliance with all local, county and state regulatory agencies. 
  • Ensure the development of ISPs that are person centered including the individual’s needs, particularly for his/her health and well-being. Help assure that ISPs are followed as written and modified and updated as needed. 
  • Ensure that services are rendered using the principles of normalization and the developmental model. 
  • Present a positive and professional image to others including funding source, parents and family of the individual supported by Access Services, staff of other agencies and professional services. 
  • Accept on call responsibilities for the region. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, and work scheduled overtime, or be available for unplanned overtime as necessary, to meet program needs.

Personnel Management and Staff Development:

  • Manage staff through quality hiring, coaching, training, and corrective disciplinary action as needed.
  • Supervise staff andsupervisors, helping to assure that timely and effective training occurs, timely and effective supervision occurs and that adequate support is provided to staff. 

Requirements

Candidates must meet all qualifying and ongoing job criteria including background checks, physical examination results, and clearances.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required. 

Experience: Three (3) years of direct experience in social services or related field, including one (1) of supervisory experience, required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of pertinent community resources.
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels including internal and external customers.
  • Ability to problem solve and resolve ambiguous situations requiring attention.
  • Proficiency in, or ability to learn and use, workplace applications, platforms and technologies, including electronic healthcare record systems.
  • Ability to navigate network drives and basic hardware use and troubleshooting.
  • This position requires the ability to travel during the course of a normal workday to successfully carry out the expectations of this position including attending offsite meetings, providing services in the community, and providing service oversight and supervision. The employee will need to drive their personal vehicle and/or an agency owned vehicle to meet these expectations.

Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Work in a standard office environment. Utilize desktop computer equipment on a daily basis. Able to lift or move items associated with sedentary work and light work (exert up to 20 lbs.) Routinely travel to offsite locations and regional office locations, as necessary.
