UX Engineer

As a UX Engineer, this is your opportunity to work with a diverse team of designers, developers, and engineers to bring powerful concepts to reality by creating UI/UX and human factor designs for software development projects. This role analyzes existing systems, helps develop requirements for new systems, creates wireframes and mockups, understands best practices, and works with application users to create modern, clean, intuitive applications. Working with UX designers and UX researchers, you will create and propose design solutions (wireframes and prototypes) grounded in theory and understanding of client needs.

Requirements

  • Collaborate daily with the product team to design unique user experiences through user flows, process flows, wireframes, and storyboards.
  • Embrace emerging standards while promoting best practices to push UI/UX limits.
  • Research and develop new and innovative ways to deliver content and functionality to end-users.
  • Create intuitive user interfaces that are accessible to users that have limited technical proficiency.
  • Create interactive wireframe prototypes and have advanced technical understanding of tools such as Illustrator, Figma, Adobe XD, and Photoshop.
  • Provide UI/UX mock-ups and wireframes/storyboards for product and program managers.
  • Collaborate with end-users to understand their intent and needs for the application.
  • Analyze user feedback and actively look to iterate/improve user experience.
  • Build prototypes to assist in user research, using low- to high-fidelity techniques, and/or build design tools to empower a design team.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and product demos as requested.
  • Occasionally help identify and troubleshoot development issues or bugs.
  • Work closely with the development team to deliver assets needed for implementation.
  • Advise front-end engineers on UI/UX implementation best practices through detailed handoff documents and style guides.
  • Complete tasks within budgeted time and work with management to escalate any project and/or task issues.
  • Be resourceful with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to project issues, changes, or updates.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in design (I.E.: interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of UX/UI design or engineering experience.
  • Proficient with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
  • Demonstrated experience in designing for a variety of platforms (desktop, mobile, web).
  • Demonstrated experience working in product teams.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of design in web development (HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, React) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 3D tools and workflows such as Blender, C4D, and Maya is a plus.
  • Knowledge of game design and game engine workflows (Unity) is a plus.
