Job Description
Implement and maintain a comprehensive safety program at Advocate Construction to ensure employee well-being and compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements
- Policy Development: Create and update safety policies, ensuring effective communication to all.
- Training and Education: Conduct regular safety training sessions and new employee orientations.
- Inspections and Audits: Perform routine safety inspections, collaborate with project managers, and conduct audits.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; analyze root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans; conduct drills and training exercises.
- Safety Communication: Foster open communication on safety concerns; promote a positive safety culture.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety activities; submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on safety regulations; ensure company compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Workers' Compensation: Oversee workers' compensation program, coordinate claims, and facilitate return-to-work processes.
- Insurance Damage Claims: Coordinate and manage insurance damage claims related to construction projects.
- Subcontractor Document Auditing: Conduct regular audits of subcontractor documents, ensuring compliance.
- Administrative Duties: Assist in managing safety and Loss Control-related tasks and contribute to onboarding communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred)
- Relevant safety certifications
- Previous safety management experience in construction or roofing
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaking preferred
- Experience in managing workers' compensation and insurance damage claims
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Office applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility: Move around construction sites, climb ladders and stairs.
- Balance and Coordination: Good balance on uneven surfaces.
- Lifting and Carrying: Capability to lift and carry safety equipment.
- Weather Endurance: Tolerance for various weather conditions.
- Visual Acuity: Good vision to identify potential hazards.
- Hearing: Adequate hearing to detect warning signals.
- Manual Dexterity: Skill in using hands and fingers.
- Emergency Response: Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Software used Daily: Google Office, Zoom, Slack, Sugar, Asana
Working Conditions:
- Hours: Monday through Friday, occasional weekends.
- Physical Demands: Stationary position 50% of the time, lift up to 45 lbs on a continuous basis.
- Work Environment: Occasional outdoor work, primarily in an office environment.
