Job Description

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Career Pathways Supervisor who will be all-in on our mission and who will hold a leadership position that coordinates the Career Ready You (CRU) career pathway program. The core functions of a Career Pathway Supervisor are to (1). Coordinate student enrollment and management, (2). Administer the Texas Workforce Commission grant requirements, (3). Evaluate the performance of the career pathway program, and (4). Supervise the Career Navigator team and I-BEST Instructional Staff. Additionally, ensure the Ability to Benefit (ATB) Federal Provision is adopted and implemented to align with Amarillo College strategic plan. The Career Pathways Supervisor will report to the Adult Education program director.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s Degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: One (1) year of experience in advising.

Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a supervisory role.

JOB DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and manage the CRU career pathways program.
  • Supervise Career Navigational team and IBEST instructional team.
  • Create internal and external partnerships connecting CRU programs to career pathways.
  • Create enrollment management processes for GED and ESL students.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate career navigational members and IBEST instructors.
  • Develop viable internal partnerships to assist and support IBEST models.
  • Lead and ensure all WIOA performance requirements are learned and implemented to ensure annual Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) grantee performance.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training, as required.
  • Budget management for the Career Pathways program staffing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS amp; ABILITIES
  • Ability to learn and disseminate TWC grant requirements specific to career pathways.
  • Ability to create a sustainable and successful transition from CRU to Amarillo College post-secondary education for students utilizing the ATB federal provision.
  • Ability to learn and train Career Navigators over holistic advising models.
  • Ability to learn and disseminate labor market information (LMI) for the Texas Panhandle to CRU and students.
  • Be sensitive to diverse cultural differences in student interactions.
  • Skills using educations technologies, such as Zoom, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Leadership and partnership building skills.
  • Collect and synthesize data to create reports.
  • Knowledge of adult basic education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-term goals.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures and ability to deliver excellent customer service.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), Pay grade 13 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
