Job Description

On behalf of our client, John Anderson Construction, located in Warren, Pennsylvania, Decision Associates is seeking applicants for the position of President. Founded in 1989, John Anderson Construction began as a small company working primarily for residential customers on concrete projects but quickly expanded into a concrete and excavation company serving both residential and commercial customers.

Eventually, the company further evolved into a site/concrete contractor performing water and sewer line projects as well as stormwater work, earth moving, gas lines, steel pipelines, and compressor stations. Today, John Anderson Construction has several divisions including Steel Gas Pipeline Construction, Fabrication, Earthwork, Land Clearing, Concrete, and employs 80 full-time team members.

The President of John Anderson Construction will be responsible for providing leadership to position the company at the forefront of their industry and developing a strategic plan to enhance the company’s revenue, profitability, and growth. The President will oversee company operations to insure operational efficiency, quality, service, customer service and cost-effective management of resources.

*This is an on-site position in Warren, Pennsylvania and will require relocation to the area for candidates who do not already live within reasonable commuting distance (lt;1 hour).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic plan to advance the company's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization.
  • Oversee company operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
  • Identify acquisition and merger opportunities and direct implementation activities.
  • Develop, refine and approve company operational procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Evaluate performance of executives for compliance with established policies and objectives of the company and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Promote the company through written articles, personal appearances at conferences, and participation in legislative sessions, committee meetings, and at formal functions.
  • Present monthly President’s report to the CEO on status of the operation.
  • Oversee operations to include evaluating operating and financial performance.
  • Manage executive level employees and communicate with departments to keep them updated on the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required and at least 10 years of experience in a leadership role for a large division or company, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated executive-level entrepreneurial track record; exhilarated by growth and change; able to reinvent ideas and identify opportunities that can be successfully implemented to drive growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills and experience being the face and voice of an organization among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Background in business development, cultivating relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
  • Experience in formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and minimal travel.
