Come Join our Team! As a Graduate Intern you will perform initial evaluations of client needs and develop customized treatment plans. Provide individuals with the resources they need to reach personal goals. Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed. Actively engage in observation and learning from on-staff therapists, and in intern and therapist supervision meetings.

Core Functions:

  • Provide therapy services to agency clients following established, published therapeutic theories as preferred by the therapist and approved by the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Maintain clinical information confidentially unless required or authorized to disclose information.
  • Complete intake assessments and clinical diagnoses using the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual (DSM) for all new clients within 14 days of an initial appointment.
  • Maintain accurate, current clinical progress notes of all clinical services provided.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to appointments within required timeframes.
  • Attend weekly and monthly meetings and supervisions as scheduled.
  • Participate in agency committees as appropriate.
  • Independently maintain and track clinical and supervision hours for course requirement completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Licensure Enrolled in Masters program in qualified counseling, psychology, social work, or related field. Bachelors degree, in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field preferred but not required.

Experience Clinical experience, ideally working directly with clients, preferred but not required. Experience with marginalized groups and/or LGBTQ+ communities helpful but not required. Must be knowledgeable in the current DSM classification manual. Microsoft Office Skills, with an ability to become familiar with Company specific programs or software.

Additional Requirements Contract with Intern’s school and all required documentation of partnership and internship approval must be completed and on file with THA.

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Must have basic PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
  • Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and interpersonal communication skills; Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English; Additional language abilities desirable. Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively interact with persons of widely diverse roles, backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic classes, those in crises or resistant or negative toward organizations.
  • Ability to apply time management practices to prioritize, schedule and complete work effectively to comply with mandated policies and deadlines.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks or parts of tasks simultaneously to ensure timely completion of work activities.
  • Must be able to work productively with other departments and employees.
  • Ability to work with professionals from various partners and organizations.
  • Minimum of 10-15 hours worked per week, some weekends and evening hours may be required.
  • Ability to successfully manage conflict, negotiating win-win solutions.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
  • Exceptional follow through on tasks and assignments
