Scientific Systems Products Division is looking to internally fill aSenior Research Engineer 2 position in the domain of Autonomous Vehicles and Uncrewed Systems. The successful applicant will be responsible for development and integration of software and simulation systems for advanced AI/ML programs relating to multi-vehicle autonomous flight systems and crewed-uncrewed collaboration.

Job Duties:
- Develop and integrate CMA (Collaborative Mission Autonomy) software for multi-vehicle aerial autonomy in complex, contested environments.
- Be the core AFSIM subject matter expert across all SSCI groups with AFSIM needs.
- Lead a team to design, implement, test, and deploy AFSIM for LVC autonomy demonstration purposes.
- Perform on-site software integration for embedded uncrewed multi-vehicle autonomy.
- Present technical results to internal and external customers.
- Support other company initiatives and programs.
- Must be able to lead a team of developers to build modular, reusable software with deployment-ready production values
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Must have an active SECRET clearance or higher.
- 5+ years of experience and bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or relevant engineering discipline
- 3+ years of industry experience (DoD strongly preferred), including as a software developer for software development/Ramp;D of AI for Robotics, Machine Learning, Robot Planning/Optimization Techniques, and/or Autonomous Uncrewed Systems Software.
- Experience with C/C++, Python, and (desired) relevant memory-safe languages. Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
- Experience with both creation of AFSIM simulation model and integration of AFSIM into LVC software pipelines with external (non-AFSIM) autonomy processes, including the ability to build from-scratch AFSIM scenarios and integration frameworks for new programs with unique simulation requirements.
- Experience designing software architecture for complex software systems, and integrating with DoD-standard architectures and interfaces.
- Experience with modern software development tool chains and processes (Agile, git/Gitlab/Github, Confluence/Jira, CI/CD and automated test methodologies, etc.)
· Familiarity with DoD or other common robotics and datalink architecture standards (especially OMS and AFSIM, but also FACE, DDS, ROS, STANAG 4586, J-Series, etc.)
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with AI robotic navigation and decision algorithms path planning (A*, RRT), schedule optimization (Simulated Annealing, Genetic Algorithms, Tabu Search), distributed coordination algorithms, machine learning and reinforcement learning.
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skills.
