Job Description

Full-time Licensed Mental Health Counselors Wanted - Join our Growing Community

The Mental Health Counselor works with other mental health professionals, primarily nurses and psychiatrists, in the evaluation and assessment of patients' conditions and psychological functioning with emphasis on setting/implementing goals.

These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Work Schedule:

  • We understand the importance of work-life balance, so you will be working during normal business hours:
  • Monday to Friday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM

Primary Duties:

  • Collects patient information, documenting such in nursing notes and reporting to appropriate staff members. Assesses and evaluates on a continual basis patient behavior and changes, identifying problem areas and strengths.
  • Performs individual, group and milieu therapy techniques to promote healthy communications, problem solving, discharge planning, daily self-care skills and ego strength development. Formulates treatment plans with the primary team, devises individual treatment plans and evaluates and revises them continually.
  • Ensures safety on unit, promoting patient safety, coordinates adequate staff coverage as needed and coordinates with other departments, as necessary. Provides patient role modeling through demonstration of appropriate behaviors, fostering communication skills, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary planning meetings and presents observations and interventions concomitant with treatment goals and discharge plans. Participates in Unit's QA program which includes evaluation of self as a therapeutic tool for patient treatment through peer review and supervision.
  • Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities. Maintains direct observation of patients when functioning as an Observation Attendant.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state.
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for mood disorders, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Strong understanding of psychopharmacology and the ability to collaborate effectively with psychiatrists and other medical professionals.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful outcomes in treating mood disorders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
