When you join PPGNY as an Advanced Practice Clinician you will provide medical examinations for the purpose of providing sexual and reproductive health care including assessing general health, diagnosing medical conditions, and providing therapeutic assistance for a determined range of infections and disorders including HIV.Additional responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for assessing, planning and administering health care which is individualized to the patient and consistent with the policies and protocols of PPFA and the PPGNY Rapid Initiation of ART (RIA) program
  • Providesfull spectrum sexual and reproductive health careand education to patientsincluding contraception, abortion, well-person examinations,testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections including HIV,and gender affirming health care
  • Uses the GOALS Framework for Sexual History Taking to complete health history and performs physical examinations with special emphasis on HIV care, preventative care, healthy sexuality care, and transgender hormone therapy
  • Provides HIV confirmatory diagnosis and RIA within an interdisciplinary team framework with appropriate pre-service and in-service education, including RIA-specific laboratory tests, prescription of medications, and warm hand-off to outside care
  • Monitors medical aspects of all clinical services offered through the RIA program, acting as a resource to program staff and patients regarding medical concerns
  • Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team and makes referrals to medical and community resources as indicated
  • Assists in training and orientationfor newly hiredstaff
You have:
  • Ability to travel while performing the duties of this job; the employee may have to travel to other work locations at various times including occasional support of the mobile health unit
  • Graduation from a formal and accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Bachelors Degree
  • State license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and be certified by a national credentialing body
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Proficient and high degree of comfort with EMR system
  • Experienceworking with LGBTQ+ populations
  • Ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental and culturally responsive care across race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin or ability; and demonstrates deep sense of accountability to patient experience
