A tax staff accountant at Perkins amp; Co will prepare federal and state tax returns for businesses and individuals, assist with income tax planning, research technical tax issues, and assist with other business consulting projects.

You’re just starting your accounting journey and we recognize that your career is going to be as unique as you are. Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Develop working relationships with appropriate client personnel

Engagement Management

  • Work closely with other Staff, Seniors, Managers, Senior Managers and Shareholders on completing different projects
  • Perform research on technical issues
  • Assist with other business consulting projects
  • Maintain accurate time records and descriptions of work performed
  • Review work prepared by the staff and seniors and provide constructive feedback to develop their personal and professional skills
  • Understand and follow regulations of the AICPA Professional Code of Ethics, the company’s code of ethics, independence rules and quality control procedures
  • Organize and coordinate work schedule with a variety of supervisors

Professional Development

  • Become proficient in a variety of accounting software programs
  • Develop a working knowledge of internal workflow and procedures

Qualifications

  • Current student who will have a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting or related field and be eligible to sit for the CPA exam (completed 150 semester/225 quarter college credits) before the hire date--December 2024 for Tax.
  • Working knowledge of common office technology and software (MS Office Suite)
  • Must have high integrity and trustworthiness
  • Ability to learn accounting specific software and research tools
  • Must be goal-oriented and have a desire to learn
  • Possess strong aptitude for analytical, technical work and problem solving
  • Professional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be able to effectively work on multiple concurrent projects
  • Self-starter/independent worker who also collaborates effectively as part of a team
  • Highly organized and strong attention to details
  • Must have the ability to work under supervision, accepting and applying constructive criticism and coaching
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed
