Job Description

Working in a dynamic, collaborative team and reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for performing reconciliations, recording journal entries, processing payables invoices, assisting with the month-end close and any other monthly reporting requirements. The Staff Accountant should excel in building strong relationships with fellow advisors and external auditors. They will be a vital participant in ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will meticulously inspect and evaluate documents and schedules pertinent to the Company's reporting process.

**While this is a remote role, the ideal candidate would be located on the East Coast so we can occasionally meet as a team!**


What You'll Do:

The company is moving into promising new markets giving the accounting team continuous opportunities to learn through new and interesting scenarios. As such, while the principal duties are outlined below, there likely will be additional responsibilities due to new markets/new processes.

Accounting:

  • Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end closing process, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and generating financial reports.
  • Reconciliations: Prepare balance sheet reconciliations of certain accounts
  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare financial reports for management review.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to assist in the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Audit Support: Support external and internal audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Systems amp; Processes: Work closely with the Controller to design, and update business processes to streamline those processes; leverage technology capabilities where possible.

Customer Invoicing:

  • Coordinate with Asset Management team to ensure customer invoicing and collections are captured in the ledger. Ensure support materials are received and reconciled.

Accounts Payable

  • Perform the Accounts Payable process, including processing invoices, replying to vendors in a timely manner, setting up new vendors, reconciling account statements, obtaining internal approvals for all new bills received, and performing the match between invoices and item receipts.
  • Review invoices to confirm accuracy, and receipt of goods.
  • Determine proper account coding for invoices and submit to the Controller/Senior Accountant for review/approval and payment processing.
  • Run Accounts Payable report and recommend invoices to be paid based on due dates and payment processing timelines.

Requirements

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in general ledger operations
  • Proficient in excel
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, or other related field
