Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Data Analyst with PowerBI experience to join our team at BlueFlag LLP. You will play a crucial role in turning raw data into valuable insights that drive informed business decisions. Your responsibilities will include analyzing complex datasets, identifying trends, and presenting findings to key stakeholders through interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.

This role is an impactful position within a data science and analytics team responsible for delivering clinical insights for our nation's Department of Veterans Affairs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise in data collection, data analysis, data mapping, data profiling, data mining and data modeling
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI that provide actionable insights
  • Responsible for inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modeling data and will address issues related to data completeness and quality
  • Be part of an innovative team responsible for establishing data science and analytical pathways to deliver operational value through clinical insights and population health management capabilities
  • Define data needs and the state of OMOP data activities
  • Work directly with our software development team to ensure that we are creating best-in-class solutions to solve our customers’ complex data challenges
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis on the test data set to understand which data variables have a high potential to correlate with the target metric
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Federal and non-Federal) to validate finding and approach
  • Work with a data analytics team to develop a data strategy and phased implementation plan to address the full scope of Veteran and Clinician experience and related operational data sources
  • Work with a data analytics team to execute the implementation plan to achieve data strategy objectives by expanding the scope of data provided, incorporating additional metrics and drivers, and implementing mechanisms to incorporate use of key insights into operational decision processes
  • Optimizes data structures, data processing, and data quality, to support predictive and machine learning models in production applications
  • Create visually appealing and user-friendly data visualizations
  • Optimize performance and ensure data accuracy in Power BI solutions
  • Train and educate users on how to use Power BI effectively
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Azure Data Lake Storage, Trifacta, Collibra, R, Python, SQL, Databricks Proficient in software or data testing
  • Proficient in PowerBI
  • Knowledge of cloud data analytics platforms
  • Cloud data storage formats such as Parquet, Avro
  • Complex data transformation techniques
  • Experience with SQL and database management systems
  • Able to test data integrity and develop tests and quality checks
  • Prepare data for various types of data analysis, including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis and data manipulation techniques
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Experience supporting healthcare clients and/or leveraging healthcare data

Desired

  • Experience working with federated data models
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and/or other federal organizations
  • Familiar with healthcare data, OMOP data model
  • Understanding of machine learning and predictive modeling techniques
  • Experience with DataBricks
