Assistant Account Executive, Healthcare Public Relations

Location: New York City

The Role

Our North American Healthcare practice is excited to find an Assistant Account Executive to join its brilliant Healthcare team. You will work with some of the smartest PR practitioners in the industry and learn from them! You will work within a sizeable account management (also known as client services) team across our exciting healthcare client roster. In this role you will be a master project manager supporting both your internal team and the external client.

What is the work?

  • Write and distribute basic materials including pitch letters, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, bios, newsletters, prepared remarks, and standby statements
  • Create and maintain media lists and handle routine media inquiries
  • Monitor media to report coverage that affects the Client’s business
  • Handle basic research of Client’s business and industry to maintain a current knowledge base
  • Develop relationships with external audiences (media, third-party constituencies, etc.) to convey the Client’s message
  • Help secure media interviews and coordinate specific events and promotions for the Client(s)
  • Assist in account administration duties such as billing and activity reports and summaries from client calls
  • Work with internal service departments, external vendors, news media, other Ad/PR agencies and other account staff members at BCW to service the Client(s)

Experience that contributes to your success:

  • You must be a recent graduate who can work 40 hours per week
  • Internships in public relations; PR agency internship experience and/or Healthcare experience preferred, not required
  • Basic understanding of and interest in the field of public relations
  • An interest in learning about the Healthcare space (including pharmaceutical product communications)
  • Passion for writing and current events
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong research and analytical skills
  • You are detailed oriented, resourceful, flexible, adaptable, able to multi-task and prioritize under deadlines, and highly organized.
  • You are a self-starter who is hungry to take ownership of projects and build strong client relationship skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of the digital and social media landscape, including influencer engagement and social trends preferred; proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.) preferred
