Rebel Space Technologies is a startup seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Software Engineer at Rebel Space, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining software applications to support cutting-edge aerospace observability and cybersecurity solutions. These applications enable space system developers to accelerate and secure their operations through enhanced visibility and analysis. Day to day you'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, data science, software, and machine learning engineering, to create and implement solutions that interface across the Rebel Space stack. This position requires a broad knowledge of software tools and frameworks, a focus on user integration, and dedication to improving product quality and software performance.

We believe that as space infrastructure expands, it will be increasingly difficult to secure and monitor these systems against critical failures or evolving cyber threats. In this role as a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key member of our engineering team. You will lead the development of our enterprise observability software, contribute to our cybersecurity solutions, make architectural decisions for critical systems, and mentor a team of talented engineers. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and hands-on development to push the boundaries of space system security and observability.

• As a Senior Software Engineer at Rebel Space, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining critical software systems for our observability and cybersecurity platform, which includes controls, interfacing with data acquisition / data storage systems, various sensors, and data pipelines.
• In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to architect and implement a state-of-the-art software platform to serve as the cornerstone of space systems observability, testing support, and cybersecurity.
• Develop, test, and deploy essential applications including an integrated monitoring system to track performance and analytics within space system data and telemetry, APIs, and high-throughput data pipelines.
• Work with a friendly and motivated team to design and develop sophisticated, highly scalable, and latency-optimized software for the Rebel Space platform.
• Operate across multiple layers of the stack to develop tools for the analysis and testing of complex systems deployed at test and customer facilities.
• Design reliable software through requirements generation, continuous integration, automated testing, issue tracking, and code reviews.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Physics or related technical discipline, with at least 5 years of professional experience in software development
• OR 8+ years of professional experience developing and deploying industry-grade software
• Strong Proficiency in writing, deploying, and maintaining production code in an industry-standard language (Preferred languages include Rust, Go, C++, Python, or equivalent.)
• Experience architecting and implementing large-scale, distributed software systems with a focus on high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
• Experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, from concept, detailed architectural design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance
• Experience with cloud tools (Azure, AWS, Google, Etc)
• Familiarity with networks and databases, including query optimization
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, Build Systems, Docker/Kubernetes.
• Prior aerospace industry experience is not required.
