Job Description

Mize CPAs Inc. is a leading regional accounting and IT firm with offices in Topeka and Overland Park, Kansas. Our firm works with clients in a number of industries and has a rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality division that serves clients nationwide.

The Senior Java Developer will design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance. The Senior Java Developer is an in-office position based in the Topeka office and can be performed hybrid-remotely after initial training.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to all phases of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from initial concept, design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Ensure code is well-designed, testable, efficient, and documented
  • Ensure designs and code complies with security and compliance requirements
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternative and technological architectural requirements
  • Mentor junior developers and assist in the management of development teams
  • Collaborate with team members to define project objectives, ensure code quality, and share knowledge
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve practices and code quality

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • In-office work during training, due to the interactions necessary between the IT team
  • College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proven hands-on software development experience
  • Proven working experience in Java development, with a deep understanding of the Java ecosystem
  • Hands-on experience in designing and developing applications using Java SE and EE platforms
  • Object-Oriented Analysis and design using common design patterns
  • Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and DB2
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Microsoft tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GL/AP
  • Experience with I-series
  • Experience with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) solutions
  • Familiarity with Non-SQL databases
