Job Description

Sigma Defense is seeking a cleared, seasoned Mid-Level Systems/General Engineer with related DoD Systems Engineering experience to provide on-site customer engagement, system requirements development, design, Integration and Test, and other work products supporting a military contract on-site in Crystal City, Arlington, VA.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled with fleshing out requirements, conducting reviews, leading requirements working groups, and is familiar with aspects of DoD-based development. Sufficient knowledge of modern DevSecOps practices and systems modernization are highly desired (e.g., Kubernetes, Microservices, CI/CD, SaaS, PaaS, etc.)

Requirements

  • At minimum 3 years of systems engineering experience.
  • At minimum 5 years of experience in network design or engineering, mathematics, software engineering or software development.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in systems and integration.
  • 1 year of MBSE experience.
  • CSEP certification and experience in MBSE.
  • Expert-level knowledge and usability of Security+, CISSP, Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, RHEL.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance.
  • A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
  • A Master's degree in a technical field is desired.

Desired Certifications:

  • CSEP
  • Security+
  • CISSP
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE
  • RHEL

Candidate Differentiators:

  • MBSE (MagicDraw, Cameo)
  • CSEP certification and experience in MBSE is a plus.

Essential Job Duties (not all inclusive):

Mid-Level Systems Engineer shall provide system design, requirements, test procedures, and integration and test, including reviews of all developed work product utilizing Customer defined processes and tools as part of the Sigma Defense lead development team. Sigma Defense shall also participate in Customer conducted reviews, development discussions and working groups as requested by the Customer. The scope shall include development and test of program requirements which includes the following:

  • Requirements design packages and specifications.
  • Test Procedure documentation.
  • Conduct Level 3 Integration and provide status.
  • Documentation for Problem Reports.

A Mid-Level Systems Engineer may have these specific tasks:

  • Develop new products or improving existing ones through research and development.
  • Manage projects from start to finish by tracking deadlines and ensuring that teams are meetings those deadlines.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures for all employees on the job site.
  • Assess, track, and address project risks.
  • Plan, design, and overseeing software, IT/network, constructions projects using engineering principles and methods of analysis.
  • Use MBSE design principles using prescribed tools such as MagicDraw or Cameo.
  • Maintain relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction with the progress of the project.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for new products or services that will meet customer needs.
  • Identify problems in existing products or processes and propose solutions.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually.
