Job Description

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Program Coordinator HSI STEM Scholars who will be all-in on our mission and who will represent the grant through a U.S. Department of Education Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program (STEM) Title III Grant. The Scholars Program Coordinator will lead development and the piloting of a new STEM Scholars Program.

This is a Grant Funded position. Continued employment is contingent on grant funding.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field, Education or a related field.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in STEM, Education or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: One (1) to two (2) years of experience designing and/or implementing a student support program.

Preferred: Three (3) years or more experience in coaching/mentoring in community college setting working with student advising or student support services.

JOB DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with AC STEM Faculty and student services staff to develop a new STEM Scholars Program, establish participant identification, selection and assessment procedures and program policies.
  • Oversee development and management of two unique STEM Scholars Program summer bridge experiences.
  • Develop STEM coaching services for STEM Scholars Program participants, coordinating services and referrals with AC student service hubs.
  • Lead project pilots of the new STEM Scholars Program.
  • Assist with project evaluations.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly contact with students.
  • Collaborate and build relationships internally with various campus departments including Advising, Career Services, Admissions, Dual Credit, the Foundation and Adult Learning.
  • Build relationships externally with local and regional high school counselors, dual credit faculty, and home school organizations.
  • Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.

  • Effective and timely written and oral communication both internally within Amarillo College as well with external partnerships and contacts.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), Pay grade 13 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions.
