SUMMARY OF POSITION
The basic functions of the Field Service Manager are the oversight of the installation personnel, onsite installation, collaboration with Project Managers and vendors, supervision of third party installers, service repair, training, and customer service. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills, managing service process from start to finish within our ERP database, and the ability to work independently while traveling to multiple onsite locations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assessment and Diagnosis: Evaluate furniture problems including scratches, dents, broken parts, and upholstery issues.
• On-Site Repairs: Travel to customers' locations and perform on-site repairs using the necessary tools and techniques.
• Quality Workmanship: Ensure high-quality workmanship and attention to detail in all repair projects.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external customers providing clear expectations of the repair process and completion timelines.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation including before and after pictures of repairs.
• Safety: Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Inventory Management: Monitor knowledge base of third party system and ERP database to order replacement items and specific hardware parts needed from vendors.
• Travel: Frequent and/or overnight travel is required for this position.
• Microsoft Office Proficiency: Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Training: Attend training within the first 30 days of employment and develop proficiency with the Meteor Education system. Continuous training is required.
• Liaison Role: Serve as the liaison between Meteor Education and the client during the repair process.
• Status Updates: Keep the Project Manager apprised of activities with daily contact regarding repair status.
• Service Completion: Ensure service trips are completed on time while keeping customers updated with delivery times for each stop.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Project Manager Lead.
• Professional Appearance: Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
• Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive and professional attitude especially when managing conflict to help problem solve.
• Client Requirements: Respect the unique security, safety, and professional requirements of our education client base.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 5+ years of prior experience in furniture repair or construction
• Strong, consistent work ethic and ability to manage time effectively
• High School diploma or its equivalent is required
• Ability to perform duties that require standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
• Must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands to handle and feel objects such as computer equipment
• Physical ability to bend to reach for objects and crouch when needed
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret work orders and scheduling reports
• Ability to promptly respond to customer inquiries or complaints
• Manage time to complete all required duties
• Mechanical ability required to assemble furniture and accessories
• High attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to obtain a level 2 contractor/vendor badge
• Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts, including any overnight out of town assignments
NOTE: All Meteor new hires are expected to attend an in-person cultural orientation which requires travel to our home office in Gainesville, FL. Employees may also be required to travel and attend annual company meetings and events. All business-related travel expenses will be paid for by Meteor per our company travel and expense policy.
